LESTA – Learn English / Spanish through the Arts – since 2005 – is dedicated to serving low income and underserved populations of Washington County and is pleased to announce it’s Fall Programs.
Because of its renewed partnerships with City of Hillsboro via the Senior Center and Pacific University, LESTA is offering Mask Workshops for Dia de los Muertos/Day of the Dead from Oct. 10 – 31, and Spanish Through the Arts for Adults from Nov. 14 – Dec. 5. All classes are held on Tuesdays 1:30 – 3pm at the Hillsboro Community Senior Center. To register for these fun and educational classes, call 503-615-1090.
LESTA’s renewed partnership with Pacific University allows this non-profit, community service organization to hire two Work Study Students four hours per week for each job. Job #1 is a Reader/Editor Office Assistant and Job #2 is a Bilingual Teaching Assistant for the classes at the Senior Center. These students must already be approved by Pacific University as Work Study allocation recipients. Hours are flexible. Students can access full job descriptions at the Pacific University website Jobs área. www.pacificu.edu/career
The LESTA studio office is on the corner of 12th Ave. and Baseline which is only 3 blocks from Pacific University’s Hillsboro Campus. LESTA is also seeking volunteers for general office work and they can be anyone over the age of 18 from any part of the community. They should have an interest in cultural diversity and the use of the Arts to teach English/Spanish for all ages. Being Bilingual is helpful.
