The Walters Cultural Arts Center (527 E. Main St., Hillsboro) presents a special concert performance and CD release by beloved local Americana group Skybound Blue on Friday, October 5 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 advance or $20 the day of the performance.
The Walters offers an intimate theatre setting to celebrate the release of Skybound Blue’s new EP, “Story.” Get carried away for the evening with Skybound Blue’s soulful lyrics and harmony driven songs, described by “Artslandia” as “a heartfelt and stomp-your-foot sound, one with a beautiful blend of folk, bluegrass, and Americana.”
Fronted by married duo Jenny and Matt Behnke, Skybound Blue owns the stage with chemistry and authenticity. Jenny’s stunning vocals and lyrics are reminiscent of Patty Griffin with a Northwest influence, and their songwriting is the product of a life of risk and adversity overcome.
The couple met in Jazz choir at Spokane Falls Community College, fell instantly in love, and promptly quit school in search of adventure. They spent three summers on Guam, where Matt landed a gig diving for silver bullion on a 17th Century Spanish Galleon. Then, after years of dreaming of sailing the ocean, they sold everything and sailed the Bahamas: snorkeling, playing music, and making life-long friends.
A year later their lives changed forever when Jenny was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Cancer remains the biggest challenge the couple has ever endured. Out of this experience came the knowledge that their path lay in writing and sharing their music, and the courage to share their story with their whole heart.
Discover how they’ve built a devoted following of fans who crave that rare and magical combination of authenticity, connection, inspiration and exceptional live performance.
