(Hillsboro, Ore.) — Inducted into Oregon Jazz Society’s Hall of Fame in 2016, vocalist Marilyn Keller brings magic to the stage with her mesmerizing presence and flawless vocal stylings. Keller, an award-winning singer, performs at the Walters Cultural Arts Center (527 E. Main St., Hillsboro) on Friday, December 6 at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy an intimate evening with this dynamic performer and Northwest treasure. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 the day of the performance.
Keller’s range and profound talents are in-demand across the region, and traverse multiple genres including Gospel, Jazz, and Inspirational. She frequently collaborates with fellow metro area Jazz luminaries such as Darrell Grant and Exra Weiss, and is the vocalist for The Augustana Jazz Quartet, Portland Jazz Composers Ensemble, Black Swan Classic Jazz Band, and many more. Keller recently portrayed Mother Shaw/Obatala, in the sold-out musical theatre production of Regina Taylor’s Crowns at the Portland Playhouse which celebrated African American song, dance, and culture receiving stellar reviews from The Oregonian, Willamette Week, and Broadway World.
With over 35 years in the music industry, her passion to uplift the human spirit and leave a positive impact is evident in her work. “I have a very deep sense of fairness and honor and justice, which encourages me to charge ahead and work proactively in hopes of brightening the society we live in,” states Keller.
