(Hillsboro, Ore.) — The City of Hillsboro Cultural Arts Division is pleased to announce an exhibition of watercolor paintings, drawings, and photographs by Jessica Shepherd. The exhibition, curated by Cultural Arts staff, will be on display in the Hillsboro Civic Center’s Shirley Huffman Auditorium and adjacent gallery wall through the months of November and December. The Civic Center is located at 150 E. Main St. in Hillsboro, and is open to the public Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
This collection reflects Shepherd’s life and travels. Each piece is a visual record of a place: a small representation or memento of the stories and experiences to be found there. The exhibition features works inspired by multiple cities and places including Hillsboro, North Plains, Boston, New York, London, Amsterdam, and the Amalfi Coast of Italy.
Shepherd grew up in Hillsboro and currently lives in North Plains. She has a Bachelor of Art degree from Whitworth University, and since graduating in 2014 has worked as an assistant for people with disabilities in Spokane and, most recently, in London.
“When I returned from living abroad,” she says, “I sought to take some of what I’ve learned about the world and express it in a visual form to share with others. This collection is the result.”
