• Michael Kelly’s passion has been drawing and painting for nearly 40 years. His work often expresses motion and energy. In his view these elements exist in all things, static or not, and regardless of subject.
Michael deconstructs and then reconstructs, according to the composition he intends to achieve. He creates his work intuitively. There are no prescribed steps. His art is about process, not about the “perceived goal”. Sometimes, the “magic” works.
• His upcoming show features horse racing as a display of the dynamics of energy and motion, key elements in his art. A 1500 pound horse carrying a 110lb jockey at 40 mph requires great physical strength and a level of communication not found in other sports. It is a symbiotic relationship; intense, dangerous and unpredictable. The sound of hoof beats is an underlying note. Placing a $2.00 bet intensifies the skill of observation.
