(Hillsboro, Ore.) — On Tuesday, December 3, from 5 – 8 p.m., the Walters Cultural Arts Center (527 E. Main St., Hillsboro) will host more than 40 local artists at its 2nd annual Walters Artisan Pop-up Shop. This is a one night only opportunity to find the perfect, unique item—for a gift or for yourself—while supporting artists working in your community. The Pop-up Shop is open to the public and is free to attend. All proceeds from sales go directly to the artists.
The Pop-Up Shop with feature fine art, photographs, and one-of-a-kind jewelry from a number of talented artists including intricately beaded earrings, Polynesian inspired pieces, and hand shaped chainmail jewelry. Artisans will also have a variety of ceramic pieces available, including hand-painted pottery for the home or garden, wood-fired creations, and colorfully glazed household pieces. For home goods and accessories, you’ll find block-printed pillows, napkins, cards, handmade soaps, journals, and scarves, as well as crocheted creatures, metal miniatures, handmade toys, and much more.
The Artisan Pop-up Shop will take place in conjunction with the Walters’ First Tuesday Art Walk with the opening of the new exhibit “Homecoming.” Celebrated educator Judy Vogland has gathered together works from twenty of her former art students who graduated from Hillsboro High School between 1971 and 2001 and are now professional artists. The exhibit will feature a diverse array of media from artists working all over America who found their artistic start in Hillsboro, Oregon.
Light refreshments will also be served, with thanks to our supporting sponsor, Decadent Creations.
The Walters is located at 527 E. Main St. and is situated on the corner of Northeast Fifth Avenue and East Main Street in a one way grid in downtown Hillsboro. Parking can be accessed from either Fifth or Sixth Avenues, and the Walters is conveniently located just two blocks off the MAX Blue line.
