We’re excited to partner with the City of Tigard, Oregon in seeking qualified artists/artist teams to create original or significantly updated outdoor work(s) for the Tigard Outdoor Museum Major Works, a three-quarter-mile linear museum that will connect a new public plaza on Main Street in Downtown Tigard to employment and housing areas. Works may utilize varied media including but not limited to sculpture, mural, soundscape, and lightwork.
The museum will artistically interpret the history of Tigard and the surrounding region through the common thread of rail (the museum will be located along a former railroad bed). This thread provides an opportunity to explore Native American displacement, migration patterns, the use and exploitation of immigrant labor, agricultural heritage, suburbanization and gentrification, and a variety of other themes in a way that reveals the rich and sometimes complicated palimpsest of history. Along with this search for new artist(s)/artists teams, Oregon Artist Suenn Ho will also be creating a series of smaller interpretive works for the Outdoor Museum.
Applications are open now; deadline August 15, 2019.
Artist(s) and artist teams may apply through the CaFÉ online application system. Direct link: https://artist.callforentry.org/festivals_unique_info.php?ID=6863 or www.callforentry.org and search “Tigard Outdoor Museum Major Works”.
